I've said time and time again that the drivers with a basic understanding of business are those who are most likely to succeed. In fact, almost every driver I know who has read The Four-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss has gone on to secure sponsorship and climb the motorsport ladder.

With that in mind, I thought I'd do a simple round-up of some of the books that I keep recommending to racing drivers.

🏝️ The Four-Hour Work Week - Tim Ferriss

This book came out in 2007 but don't let that put you off. The lessons on automating, batching, and hacking your way to success are still relevant. This will give you a good grounding in what it takes to run a business (because that's what you're doing as a racing driver) but it'll also inspire you to streamline what you're already doing.

🤑 You Are a Badass at Making Money - Jen Sincero

Mindset is often overlooked when it comes to making money. Did you know that your attitude to money could be holding you back? This book was transformational for me. Most of us have been brought up to be scared of money and you'd be surprised how much those hang-ups can affect how you chase sponsorship as a racing driver.

☀️ The Miracle Morning - Hal Elrod

Do you maintain that you don't have enough hours in the day to get stuff done? Are you always using work and family as an excuse to skip those sponsorship tasks? Read this book. If you're already thinking 'I don't want to get up early' then maybe you need to read it more than you think.

🤝 How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie

This is another book that will change how you approach sponsorship. It's all about building relationships. This book will help you when it comes to networking, pitching, building connections, finding fans, and creating content. I consistently come back to the teachings in this book, especially when I need to be persuasive.
